WW2 site one more fantastic early spring day well spent
Despite the very chilly weather our team visited the German transition camp again today mostly planning future excavations and mapping the area as usual. We recovered the Vokswagen stove and also made a couple of test pits in different areas of the camp. Once again the finds proved to be very interesting and covered many interesting aspects of the life in the camp from 1942 to 1944. Below a few pictures of finds from today´s visit (different types of rifle bullets, a 9 mm pistol casing (1943), the remains of a pocket knife and a large spoon found in the officers area of the camp).
