"Deutsches Lager Hanko 1942-1944". The 2016 excavations start tomorrow!

Feeling more than excited at the moment. The 2016 excavations of the larger German WW2 transition camp are about to begin.

This is our third field season and after trial excavations during previous years we are now into the first large scale archaeological excavations of this complex site!

I will be updating here on a daily basis so check in here for pictures of our work and "finds of the day".

A well preserved German coin found during surveying in May 2016. The sandy soil has preserved a lot of the finds in very good condition!
